Ohhh, my sweet husband!! He had been out of Myrrh for a couple of days, and just hadn’t made it to my office to get himself another bottle. Well, this morning, he got his brand new bottle, and enjoyed his usual ritual of brushing his teeth with Myrrh…and then dipping the damp toothbrush into his little bag of Rose Hip Seed Exfoliant, and brushing his teeth with the exfoliant. He loves this protocol!! He then came into the kitchen and announced to me…”I just love Myrrh-aculous Myrrh!” Knowing him to be a kidder…I understood that he was doing the “play on words” thing..but I also knew that he was serious about Myrrh being miraculous.
Myrrh has an ancient history, and Her value and preciousness were further affirmed when the Wise Men chose Myrrh as an honoring gift to the baby Jesus. Her value is being recognized, as well, in modern times. Researchers are studying Myrrh to determine its effectiveness in treating breast cancer. One of my students forward a link to the research to me, and I read it with interest. However, it ended with the observation that more research was necessary, and it would probably be a decade before Myrrh was available to consumers for this purpose.
“NO”, I was screaming to my office walls and no one in particular. “Myrrh is available NOW!” Sometimes, the ignorance and pace of “modern medicine” frustrate me. And, if earlier experience is any indication, in the intervening decade, the pharmaceutical companies will attempt to isolate the “active ingredient” in Myrrh that has anti-cancer properties, and synthetically produce it, so that they can patent it. And, as far as I am concerned, that will render the resultant man-made compound far less effective than the incredible power of natural Myrrh, in all her balanced wholeness and purity.
When will we learn (i.e., TRUST) that nature holds the answers to the problems of the planet, including human health? I, for one, love Myrh…Myrrh-aculous Myrrh…just as she is.
