This site does not provide descriptive information on our 200+ essences, as Wisdom of the Earth has an excellent Aromatherapy Reference Guide with well over 80 pages that provides a comprehensive profile of every essence in our portfolio (see Aromatherapy Books, CDs, DVDs). The price list, which concludes this section, provides a complete listing of our oils; however, it does not include botanical, origin/production, application or usage information. That information can be found in the Reference Guide.
The following is a broad overview of our essences, categorized by the plant or tree part from which they are produced. I have noted some healing properties associated with each essential oil source, and have listed each of our essences under its primary category. This should give you a flavor of the incredible scope and delicious uniqueness of our portfolio.
Pure Essential Oils from Citruses and Peel
As a group, citruses are wonderful for lifting your spirits; they provide comfort and a sense of well-being. Additionally, they are highly anti-bacterial, anti-cancerous, and relaxing. We carry a number of citruses, including Blood Red Orange, Orange bigarade, Sweet Orange, Lemon, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tangerine, Grapefruit, and Mexican Lime.

Pure Essential Oils from Flower Blossoms and Petals
Flower blossoms are in a class by themselves. Many flower essential oils are made by chemical extraction (Absolutes). However, we are blessed to have several which are produced by steam distillation. As a group, flower blossom essences are extremely heart opening, and are powerful, natural aphrodisiacs. They show us our greatest potential, and they show us the power of acting out of love. The exquisite flower essential oils we carry are Carnation, Champaca, Jasmine grandiflorum, Jasmine sambac, Blue Lotus, Magnolia, Narcissus, Neroli (Egypt), Neroli (France), Pink Water Lily, Rose, Tuberose, Osmanthus, and Ylang Ylang.

Pure Essential Oils from Flowering Tops
A great many essences are produced from the flowering tops of medicinal plants. While these are not as homogeneous in their healing properties as other groups of plants, literally all are anti-bacterial, and many are excellent for digestion, stress reduction, headaches, hormonal balance, and colds/flu. Those included in this group are True Basil, Sweet Basil, Holy Basil, Catnip, Clary Sage, True Sage, Cornmint, Cistus, Wild Chamomile, Roman Chamomile, Blue Chamomile, Geranium, Goldenrod, Helichrysum italicum , Helichrysum arenarium, Helichrysum gymnocephalum, Hyssop, Inula graveolens, Fine Lavender, Highland Lavender, Spike Lavender, Lavender stoechas, Lavandin Super, Lavandin Grosso, Marjoram cineole, Monarda, Patchouli, Pennyroyal, Peppermint (US & French), Oregano, Rosemary cineole, Santolina, Mountain/Winter Savory, Spearmint, St. John’s Wort, Wild Tansy, Thyme borneol, Thyme geraniol, Red Thyme, Spike Thyme, Thyme thuyanol, White Thyme, Wintergreen, and Yarrow.

Pure Essential Oils from Grasses
Essences produced from grasses tend to be very anti-bacterial, very purifying, and anti-parasitic. Many also have a warming effect on the body. Examples in our portfolio include American Lemongrass, Indian Lemongrass, Citronella and Palmarosa.

Pure Essential Oils from Leaves and Twigs
As this is the part of the tree or plant which breathes, it is not surprising that essences made from them support our respiratory systems. They help us to breathe in life, as well. They remind us to take in life…and air…fully. Examples of these types of essence include Cajeput (White Tea Tree), Cedar Leaf, Cinnamon Leaf, Eucalyptus Blue Gum, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee, Eucalyptus (Mint), True Eucalyptus, Laurel Leaf, Tea Tree, Mandarin Petitgrain, Lime Petitgrain, Manuka, Magnolia Leaf, Orange Petitgrain, Niaouli, Nerolina, Rosalina, Purple Sage, and White Sage.

Pure Essential Oils from Needles, Twigs and Branches
These are the “leaf and twig” counterparts in the coniferous/evergreen tree system. Again, these essences support the human/animal respiratory system. They also are known for their anti-bacterial, antiseptic properties and their ability to support the immune system. These trees bridge Heaven & Earth, and their essences help us to do the same. They are grounding, yet they allow us to soar. Essences made from the needles and twigs/branches of these trees include Cypress, Balsam Fir, Douglas Fir, Hemlock Fir, Siberian Silver Fir Needle, Siberian Fir Needle, Black Pine, Douglas Pine, Scotch Pine, Norway Spruce, Red Spruce, Sitka Spruce, and Tamarack.

Pure Essential Oils from Resin
Essences made from the resins of trees are often some of the more ancient of essences; they help alleviate emotional and physical suffering, and help to release deeply held beliefs that no longer serve us and emotions that have been deeply repressed. They are about expression…making external (through voice or writing) what has been internal (thoughts, feelings). In the physical realm, they are often anti-viral and anti-tumoric. Essences in our line that are made from the steam distillation of their resin include: Tolu Balsam, Benzoin, Elemi, Frankincense, Galbanum, Sweet Myrrh, and Myrrh. The essential oils of some conifers, such as Red Pine, White Pine and White Spruce, are produced utilizing the resin, along with the needles and branches.

Pure Essential Oils from Roots and Rhizomes
Essences made from the roots of plants or grasses are centering, calming, and many are sedating. They are often aphrodisiacs, and many are anti-parasitic. They have an earthy aroma, and remind you of the quiet and mystery of old growth forests. Some of these types of essence include Angelica Root, Arnica (Mountain Tobacco), Curcuma, Ginger, Ginger Lily, Garlic, Onion, Snake Root (Wild Ginger), Calamus, Spikenard, Vetiver and Valerian Root.

Pure Essential Oils from Seeds, Berries and Beans
These plant parts often produce an essence that addresses the reproductive system. It is also about sensuality and creativity…giving birth to new ideas, new projects, new life phases. These essences also often address digestion and energy. Many in our family of essential oils are produced from seeds, berries and beans, among them Cardamon Seed, Carrot Seed, Celery Seed, Coriander Seed, Cucumber Seed, Cumin Seed, Dill Seed, Foraha, Grapefruit Seed Oil, Sweet Fennel, Juniper Berry (the essence produced in Nepal includes some leaves and twigs), Litsea Cubeba, Parsley Seed, Rose Hip Seed, Nutmeg, Sugandha kokila (White Cinnamon), and Vanilla.

Pure Essential Oils from Tree Trunks: Wood, Bark and Heartwood
Essences made from the protective covering and/or the heart of the tree are very powerful. Some are bold in their aroma (Sweet Birch), and others are subtle (Sandalwood). Many are grounding and sedating in nature, many are immune stimulants and are anti-infectious. Most have some benefit for the skin.
