Whether you are looking to change how you relate to your body, mind and spirit, or wish to deepen your connection with the Earth and your own healing wisdom, this class will be transforming.

Level 1 class in Albuquerque (when I had brown hair!!)
Here are a few testimonials from recent Level 1 classes:
"Audre, you are an excellent teacher. You know so much about the plants and you have so many stories of actual instances where the oils really helped people. For me, that was the most powerful part of the class. After hearing those, I had the confidence to do the same on myself...and it worked! Your classroom environment feels like home and is a relaxing place to share and go deeply into the teaching. You made our class very special and I will never forget it!"
"Audre, I can't thank you enough for your guidance, encouragement and patience during the phenomenal Level 1 this past weekend. This truly was a life changing expierence for me -- I feel like I have finally found a "home" and will continue to discern how the plants and trees will help me heal, as well as show me how I will help others as I continue my journey."
"Just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much incredible information I got out of your seminar. You are a gifted teacher and a wonderful spirit whose energy brings so much to the planet -- which is especially important in today's world."

For Santa Fe Area E-News Recipients
I have recently organized an Aromatherapy "Meet Up" group in the Santa Fe area. For those of you, regardless of geographic location, who are unfamiliar with www.MeetUp.com, I would heartily suggest that you check out groups that have formed in your area. From book discussion groups, hiking groups, and wine groups to energy healing groups, people are using this website to share common interests and meet new, like-minded people in their area!
The new Santa Fe Aromatherapy Meet Up group has, at this writing, 15 founding members. Our first meeting will be on November 19th, 2009 at 6 pm. If you are interested in joining us, please go to the website, find our group's description in the Santa Fe area groups, and become a member! I would love to have you participate!
Featured article:
Building your own personal aromatherapy aresenal, one or two bottles at a time
Recently, several of my students have asked me to help them put together a "foundational set" of essential oils for them to have for client use, as well as their own use. One asked me to tell her the oils "you can't live without", while another outlined some of the more common situations experienced by her clients, and requested an array of essential oils that would be beneficial for those purposes (both physical and emotional/spiritual).
Add that to the calls I get frequently by long time clients saying that they have "this or that" situation, and what essences would be helpful? I always start with the question, "What do you already have on hand?" and proceed to suggest some from among those they currently own. I do this for two reasons...one is, the rule of thumb in aromatherapy is, if you don't have the essences you want...use the ones you have! There will always be some benefit to using the essences, even if there are others that might be more effective for your situation than the ones you currently have.
Also, we know at Wisdom of the Earth that our essences are of the purest available on the planet, and in aromatherapy (as in much of life), you get what you pay for. So, we recognize that our line of medicinal-grade essential oils represent a significant investment on the part of our clients. So, we want you to get the most out of your investment, and are happy to advise you as to how to use what you have for purposes other than what you may have purchased them for!
So, given these types of questions I receive, I thought all of you might benefit from having a very simple list of 25 essences that would give you a very wide range of treatment options...an "Aromatherapy Arsenal", so to speak, that could, at least initially, address almost anything. So, here are my thoughts on what might comprise that type of list, along with two or three (or four) key conditions/situations they address. Remember, you could literally write a book on just about any essence, so this "Cliff Notes" treatment must be recognized for what it is...the very tip of the healing iceberg for each essence.
- Basil (Sweet or True): Headaches, muscle aches, digestive problems, food poisoning
- Birch (Sweet): Joint problems, inflammation, muscle aches, sprains
- Cardamon Seed (Green): Digestive problems, heart issues such as palpitations or rapid heart beat), food poisoning
- Cedarwood (Himalayan): Adrenals, energy, dermatitis, great for morining energy
- Cumin (Black): Huge immune system support, anti-viral, allergies, skin infections (including staph infections)
- Davana: Wound healing, coughs, calming
- Eucalyptus (Blue Mallee, Cryptone type): Colds/flu, bronchitis, pneumonia, anti-viral
- Fir (Balsam): Supports the immune system, anti-bacterial, grounding
- Frankincense: Analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumoric, calming, anti-viral
- Geranium: Hormone balance, tissue regeneration, anti-bacterial
- Laurel Leaf: Lymphatic drainage, digestion, de-toxifying
- Lavender (Fine): Headaches, burns, bruises, calming
- Lavender (Spike): Muscle pain, analgesic, dermatitis
- Lime (Mexican): PH balancer, eases sadness, anti-bacterial, addictions
- Myrrh: Oral health, meditation, diabetes
- Niaouli: Insect repellant, anti-fungal, respiratory, insecticide
- Orange (Blood Red): Anti-depressant, anti-bacterial, colds/flu
- Peppermint (US): Digestion, mental clarity, headaches, muscle pain
- Pine (White): Respiratory, anti-bacterial, asthma
- Rosemary (Cineole): Respiratory, cholesterol, memory
- Sage (True): Sore throats, hormonal balance, anti-viral
- Spikenard: Anti-fungal, sedating, insomnia, meditation
- Vetiver: Sore muscles, calming, purifying
- Violet: Headaches, insomnia, nervous exhaustion, fear
- Ylang Ylang: Aphrodisiac, heart palpitations/racing heart, calming
So, that is my "take" on a comprehensive set of essences. I have not included many of our more exotic ones (like Carnation or Blue Lotus), and I admit I have stayed away from key ones I use that are quite expensive (like Helichrysum italicum or Melissa). What I did not say before was that each of the people who asked for a foundational group of essences to work with also gave me a budget to work within. So, sub-consciously, I guess, I was thinking "moderation" while compiling the list.
As I review it, probably the least expensive essence listed is Lime (Mexican), at $21 for a 15 ml bottle. The most expensive listed is Violet, at $50 for a 5 ml (about 145 drops) and $130 for a 15 ml. That being said, usually one drop of her over the heart or on the third eye is plenty, she is so softly powerful. So, compare that to 8-10 drops of some of the others, and you can see that she is quite a value at that price.
My suggestion is that you take a look at what you have, currently, and make some mental notes as to where there are "holes" in your coverage. Do you have something for viruses? Wound healing? Calming? Mental clarity? Anti-bacterial? So many times someone calls me with a horrible cold...and they do not have even one respiratory essence on hand. Or, their cat has been hurt terribly in a fight...and we need something that can go on open wounds. So...we find the closest thing we can, and then get an order out to them ASAP...losing precious time in addressing their problem (or paying exorbitant rates for overnight shipping).
Start building your arsenal, even if it is one or two bottles at a time. And, check how much you have in the bottles in your medicine cabinet. I know I have grabbed a bottle more than once and found a great aroma, but little essence left in the bottle. Yes, I run out too, and then have to wait to have it sent from the office in AZ or get it the next time I am there. Aargh!
I focused almost solely on the physical uses in this newsletter...next issue, I will take this same list and give you a sense of the emotional and spiritual issues these beauties address.
And, anyone who got to the end of this E-news and writes to me (by November 6th) and tells me about a different essence that is a "must have" for them...well, I will put those names in a hat and send the winner an essence of his/her choice, up to a value of $40. See...there are rewards for staying with me to the end!
With love from the plants & trees...
